| Ai Miyazato (born 19 June 1985) is a Japanese golfer. She won a professional event called the Dunlop Open as an amateur in 2003. In her 2004 rookie season on the Japan LPGA Tour she won five tournaments. In January 2005 she won the inaugural Acer World Cup of Golf for Japan in partnership with Rui Kitada. Miyazato is planning on competing full time on the U.S. LPGA Tour in 2006, she hopes to qualify this year. In September she passed the first stage of qualifying school in California. Miyazato became the youngest player on the JLPGA Tour to win a major at 20 years following the Japan Open Championship. Miyazato has been credited with reviving the JLPGA Tour after the retirement of Ayako Okamato. In September the largest gallery ever to attend on the final day of a JLPGA event occurred at the Japan Open Championship when over 31,000 spectators attended. Miyazato has been the # 2 ranked player on the JLPGA Tour the past two years behind Yuri Fudoh. She has endorsements deals with Suntory, Bridgestone Golf, Japan Airlines, Oakley, Paradiso & Hisamitsu.
She dominated the U.S. LPGA Q-School on December 4, 2005 and secured her tour card, enabling her to compete in the 2006 season. She finished under par for five of the six qualifying rounds, and finished 12 strokes ahead of the closest competitor, setting a record for the largest margin of victory.
